Durham Bulls / Fullsteam survey!
Ignore the intro if you want! Take the survey now!
The Durham Bulls and Fullsteam Brewery are exploring a possible revamp / relaunch of the Bulls’ “El Toro” beer for the 2010-11 baseball season. The Bulls have asked that we (Fullsteam) reach out to our fans and readers to see what YOU think of this idea.
So we’re looking for your opinion on what a new El Toro might look (and taste) like. You even have the opportunity to tell us this isn’t a good idea. Please consider completing this short (five to ten minute) anonymous survey to help us evaluate this potential opportunity…especially if you live in the Carolinas or attend Bulls games.

Feel free to pass along this poll to anyone you think might be interested. We recognize the survey has its shortcomings…respondent bias comes to mind, as we’re polling beer lovers predisposed to liking craft beer, versus the general audience of Bulls attendees. So all y’all with Masters and PhDs: you may want to pop open a beer before delving in to this survey. It’ll make it more fun!
We’re hoping to get enough responses by November 10th to determine next steps. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any major decisions. Thanks so much!

When I saw the words “el Torro” and the image of a charging bull, I thought, “Mexican restaurant.” Certainly not to disparage the idea of a Durham Bulls beer, but, personally, baseball and brew were the last things that came to mind.
From a marketing perspective, if the consumer was uninformed about the beer, one might draw from the name and image that it’s a Mexican style beer and would wonder why a slice of lime didn’t adorn the edge of the souvenir cup or wasn’t crammed into the can.
If you take a step back and think about it, would you name a pale ale or a lager “el Torro”? For me, it wouldn’t make sense.
Just my two-cents…looking forward to see what you guys come up with. Good luck.
The name of the beer hearkens back to the original Durham Athletic Park, which was also known as “El Toro Park” or “El Toro Stadium.”
