Five Years Of Brewing, Three Days Of Awesome.

While we officially turned five years old back in August, we wanted to host the official celebration when the temps were a bit cooler, when students were back, and when IGOR was ready. Check. Check. Almost check.

On October 1, we kick off our three day, Five Year Anniversary Shindig! We have a lot to celebrate. And as you well know, when we have a party, it is always good times.

What do we have planned? Glad you asked…


Thursday, October 1

Noon:

Open Early!

Noon – 12:00 am:

IGOR Bottle Release – IGOR BACK. Beginning at noon, get bottles of any (or all) of IGOR, Senor IGOR, and Son Of IGOR.

Noon – 12:00 am

Happy Hour(s) – $4 pints of each our “original” beers – those Fullsteam beers that have been a part of our lineup since the beginning of time… five years ago.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Highland Avenue Treats – Executive Chef Kyle McKnight, of Highland Avenue Restaurant, is serving up delicious hors d’oeuvres that will pair perfectly with the pint in your hand.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Foggy Ridge Cider Sampling – You’ve tasted Foggy Ridge apple pomace brewed in our beers (Common Good, Fearrington Fall), but have you tried their delicious cider? Here is your chance.

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Fair Game Beverage Co. Sampling – Sample a variety of wines from the fine folks out of Pittsboro, NC. Like what you try? We serve wine from Fair Game Beverage Co. alongside our beer at the bar.

Food TruckKocinA: authentic homemade Latin cuisine

9:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Fullsteam-ish Trivia – “-ish”? All questions will either be directly related to Fullsteam, or within 5 degrees of separation. Why not 6 degrees of separation? Well, 1) we aren’t The Bacon and 2) it’s our 5 year celebration!

Friday, October 2

Open Early!

Noon – 2:00 am

Happy Hour(s) – $4 pints of each our “original” beers – those Fullsteam beers that have been a part of our lineup since the beginning of time… five years ago.

Noon – 6:00 pm

Re-releases – Fan favorites. Blasts from the past. Hey, where did that one beer go? However you want to refer to them, we’ll be pouring them from a satellite bar in the arcade. Here is what you can expect to see during the course of the day (in no particular order): Fortunella, Batch 1,000, Pine State, Root, Deus Ex Machina, First Frost 2014, Rhum Cack-a-lacky, and Fearrinton Spring. Available until we run out.

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Mystery Ingredient Challenge With The Cupcake Bar – AKA free cupcakes! As if complimentary cupcakes weren’t enough, we’ll also have a Mystery Ingredient Challenge. Guess the mystery ingredient in the cupcakes, get entered to win a Fullsteam prize package.

5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Food TruckBig Mike’s BBQ: N.C. BBQ + N.C. beer

9:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Lip-Sync Battle – Win a $100 Fullsteam gift card! We’ve all done it in front of the mirror at home, now bring your lip-synching skills to the Fullsteam stage.

Solo “artists”, duos, and groups are all welcome. Bring your best backup dancers, hype men, and coordinating outfits. No musical talent required. Sign up here for your chance at a $100 gift card!

Live DJ – We’ll keep the party going with music into the night. Dance, magic, dance.

Open early to Scythe & Sparrow members – Grab a drink before the crowd, brunch from Parlez-Vous Crepe, and open house access to the brewery with our Head Brewer, Brian Mandeville, available for questions, musings, or general candid conversation.

Pumpkin Spice Showdown – Prizes for the winner(s)! ‘Tis the season. Pit your culinary concoctions against fellow competitors. The only requirement: your recipe must contain “pumpkin spice”. What is “pumpkin spice”? You show us. Cinnamon + star anise? Sriracha + squash? Winners chosen based on deliciousness and originality. Sign up here to ensure your slot.

Food TruckChick-N-Que: Even more N.C. BBQ + N.C. beer

8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Good old fashioned hoedown “Bow to your partner, corner salute, circle left, go lickety-scoot.” Don’t miss this good old-fashioned square dance with The Guilty Pleasures to close out the festivities. Who knows: these old-timey Durham square dancers might just make an appearance!
