Every Sunday mid-afternoon, we bring you a little Southern-Fried Sunday: beer from us! Barbecue from the Olde North State food truck! And bluegrass (mostly…sometimes we stray from the theme to bring in some blues, alt-country, or songwriters).

This Sunday it’s acoustic blues from Andy Coats, whose music has been described as “Folk-based blues full of insight, humor, and a pinch of social commentary. Think: Bob Dylan meets Son House at a bar, and then they run into John Hammond and Blind Boy Fuller for a jam session.” Sweet!  The music kicks off at 4pm.

Old North State will be on-site serving up ‘cue, ribs, and much much more from 3 to 6pm!

Oh, and is there some kind of sports game on? We’ll be showing that too.

Whew, what a week, right? I don’t know about you all, but things here got crazy. Crazy awesome, that is. In honor of the Month of Awesome, we belly danced and drag bingo-ed and played Celebrity Trivia with a big crowd (congrats to the Farmhands on their come-from-behind win!). Sean took beer to Charleston, I took beer to Raleigh, and we all got excited about some very limited releases for the weekend. A bourbon-barrel aged Southern lager? A Super Bowl sixtel surprise?

There’s even more to come, of course (speaking of which, how are those Mardi Gras costumes coming along?). But I think we should all relax for a day. Hang out. Have a beer. It’s Saturday, after all. We’re doing nothing special here at the tavern, which is just the way we like it.

Everyone knows Thursday night is Trivia Night. At Fullsteam, we call it Celebrity Trivia, and at one time that’s what it was. Alas, we’re not the paparazzi and tracking down celebs is hard work. But now it’s February, The Month of Awesome, and there’s no such thing as hard work, just merriment and fun and gentle breezes laced with the scent of clean laundry. Cue Downy commercial? Anyway, we’re bringing celebrities back this month, starting this Thursday, February 2nd with the lady who runs one of Durham’s most beloved institutions. Please roll out the proverbial red carpet for Erin Kauffman, Manager of the Durham Farmer’s Market!

She’ll be there along with regular host Zach Norris, hosting a round devoted to questions about local food and farming. Fancy yourself a fellow expert? You should probably come prove it. The game starts at 9 p.m. and, yes, there are prizes.
