Fullsteam isn’t selling beer yet…we’re just brewing test batches and giving it all away.

Part of this mission it away includes supporting local farm-to-fork artisans. This winter, we provided a few Fullsteam growlers to two Awesome Women of the Triangle (AWOTT?): Phoebe Lawless of Scratch Artisan Baking and April McGregor of Farmer’s Daughter.

WHO
Phoebe Lawless of Scratch Artisan Baking, Durham

FAMOUS FOR
Savory and sweet pies, cakes, and custom desserts. Livermush sandwiches. Donut muffins.

MAKES A (blankity-blank) WITH FULLSTEAM (blank) IN IT
Makes a kick-ass Gingerbread Cake with Fullsteam Stout in it!

PHOEBE SAYS…
“When I asked Sean and Chris if they could make me a stout last year for my gingerbread, I had no idea how much it would add to the malty/mineral-y sweetness of the batter. The end result, Fullsteam Stout Gingerbread Cake, is sultry and sweet, and the fresh ginger kick is amazing!”

YES, PLEASE!
Try the Fullsteam Stout Gingerbread Cake or Phoebe’s many other treats at the Durham Farmer’s Market, 3 CUPS, or through Phoebe’s Community Supported Pie (CSP) program. Learn more about Scratch at http://piefantasy.com!

WHO
April McGregor of Farmer’s Daughter, Carrboro

FAMOUS FOR
Handmade pickles, preserves, and pastries. Crazy good chocolate babka.

MAKES A (blankity-blank) WITH FULLSTEAM (blank) IN IT
Makes a hearty chutney with Fullsteam Carolina Common in it!

APRIL SAYS…
“I often try to pair cheeses and condiments with wine, but, to me, what they really scream for is great beer. With this in mind, I decided to put great beer front and center in our winter seasonal, robust, pub-style chutney.

The chutney is made with North Carolina Stayman Winesap and Arkansas Black apples, local green tomatoes, onions, dark brown sugar, spices, dates, malt vinegar, and Fullsteam Carolina Common. We’re calling it “Hearty Fullsteam Chutney,” and we recommend it as part of the traditional Ploughman’s Lunch of farmhouse cheddar, crusty bread and a pint or two. It makes a killer grilled cheese condiment as well.”

YES, PLEASE!
You can purchase Hearty Fullsteam Chuntey through Christmas at the Carrboro Farmer’s Market and all winter at 3 CUPS in Chapel Hill. Learn more about Farmer’s Daughter at http://www.farmersdaughterbrand.com!

***

We at Fullsteam love local and seasonal foods and the strength of the farm-to-fork movement here in central North Carolina. Phoebe and April epitomize the new old wave of growing, harvesting, canning, baking, and pickling. Chris, Brooks, and I are very fortunate that Phoebe and April “get” beer, and we’re super honored that they were willing to work with our test batches.

Be sure to support these Awesome Women of the Triangle. The fruits of their labor are among the finest in the region.
