Southern Steam
Steam Beer
Limited Releases Malt
We've been chasing the vision of a truly local Southern Lager since we launched in 2010.
On opening day—August 13, 2010—one of our four beers was simply called "Fullsteam," a steam-style / California Common that we hoped would become our eponymous flagship. The long-term goal was a Southern Lager we could take from zero local malt to 100 percent. We got there first with Fullsteam 100 a few years ago, and now with a beer we call Southern Steam. Maybe someday we'll come full circle and just call it Fullsteam.
Made with 100% North Carolina malt, Southern Steam is balanced, lightly hopped, and not overly malty...but it's by no means a boring beer. Between the sub-5% ABV, creative grain bill, ale yeast fermented at lager temperatures, and proper lagering, it's smooth, crisp, and sessionable.
It's also a distinctly American beer style—a rare thing!—and, apart from a bit of hops, a truly Southern beer.
