GFA 2016 Medal

Greetings from San Francisco!

Well, I have a new life highlight to share: bowing before Carlo Petrini, founder of Slow Food, so he could decorate me with a Good Food Award. Our Brandy Barrel-Aged First Frost received 2016 Good Food Award honors, along with thirteen other winning breweries -- some of whom you'd recognize (Jester King, Almanac, Bluejacket) and others you may not be familiar with. All are committed to making beer that is tasty, responsible, and delicious, passing both a tasting panel and an extensive vetting process on our production practices.

Beer is just one of a dozen or so other Good Food categories (cider, coffee, chocolate, preserves, many more). Friday night, we were the final group to receive honors, and after 90 minutes of sitting, we were all ready for a beer.

The fun continued on Saturday with an afternoon sampling our Brandy Barrel-Aged beer to media, friends, and merchants. Perhaps some of you reading this post heard of Fullsteam for the first time at the event...if so, that's awesome! It makes the expense of shipping out the beer across the U.S. totally worthwhile. Especially if you write me to say hey.

We're putting the final touches on a Good Food Awards Celebration at Fullsteam, featuring this year's winners and finalists. We have to seize the momentum...yet coordinate with a large contingent of NC winners!

Keep up with us on Facebook and Twitter for when we celebrate...and when we put this year's Brandy Barrel-Aged First Frost on-tap!
