Squabbit
Nut Brown Ale
Limited Releases Malt
Modest ABV. No winter spices. Smooth and malty, with a hint of sweet chestnut that beckons another curious sip.
We’ve been brewing with High Rock Farm chestnuts for nearly 15 years, folding their roasted, earthy sweetness into styles ranging from barleywine to Vienna lager. Why hadn’t we used chestnuts in a nut brown ale before? We don’t have a great answer. Maybe they were practice runs for this lovely beer.
Don’t be surprised if we brew Squabbit again…or if it finds its way into regular rotation. And the more we collectively buy chestnuts, the more we help rebuild a market, and encourage the resurgence of the American chestnut.
And it's not just the chestnuts that are local: Squabbit is plow-to-pint certified, with 100% of the grain bill purchased from barley farmed and malted in North Carolina.
