Anchovy? Yep, Anchovy!
Anchovy hops are a new experimental hop from Segal Ranches in Washington's Yakima Valley.
Originally known by the far less sexy experimental code 24B-05, this hop was later given the controversial name Anchovy by Fast Fashion Brewing founders Matt Storm and Brian Strumke. They agreed to purchase the entire lot on one condition: they got to name it. Why Anchovy? They had been brewing a Double IPA called Hot Pizza, so naturally they released a variant: Hot Pizza w/ Anchovy.
Anchovy hops have been notoriously difficult to source, so when they surfaced on Lupulin Exchange, we moved quickly.
Despite the name, there’s nothing fishy about them. Anchovy hops are prized for notes of watermelon hard candy, raspberry, and dank pine.
Jon, our Head Brewer started the Oops (one hop, 100 percent N.C. malt) series in 2022. After a eleven Oops releases -- eleven single varietals and tons of local malt -- we're going to end with a heap of anchovies.
